Stretching Routine – Why Is It Important


To eat healthily and exercise regularly is what one would hear most often in order to maintain a healthy mind and body. However, exercising must be done right too in order to get the right impact on your body and give you the desired results as soon as possible.

Stretching is preparing your body for an activity that will put strain on the muscles and joints, such as exercising and that is the main reason you must make time to include a stretching routine before any major activity and especially before exercising. Any type of exercise, however mild will put a strain on your muscles and joins as it is something out of the routine your body is used to and thus, you can cause a muscle stain and even a sprain that is not only painful but can leave you unable to use that part of the body for a while.

A stretching routine should be applied before and after an exercise or any other activity that require excessive physical effort from your body, even if it is just helping out with a few heavy boxes in the office. When you stretch before an extensive activity, you prepare the body for what is to come and after the activity you give it a change to cool down and relax again; both stretching routines are very important and therefore essential. Stretching can last anywhere from a few minutes to half hour depending on the type of exercise you performed and how strained/relaxed your body is before and after the exercise.

In order to get the best results from stretching routines you will need to perform it right and what is right for each one of us differs, due to which you should seek professional help from a qualified instructor, DVDs and/or books, which will take in consideration a few factors such as, your weight and height as well as any medical conditions you may have at present.

Exercise and stretching is important for a healthy and fit body however, your body must be able to perform the exercise and stretching routine with ease or else you will be causing yourself more harm then benefit. Before starting any exercise routine ensure that your body and present heath state can withstand it and if not try and work out exercise routines that are suitable for you in order to enjoy and benefit from them the most.
