Soccer Fitness Training
If you've never played soccer before and you have just seen it played as a bystander
or watched it on TV, you may think it's an easy sport. After all, you're just
kicking a ball around. It's not like you have to use your hand like football or
basketball.
The fact of the matter is, however, soccer can be more taxing than football and
basketball put together. Soccer fitness training involves a lot of coordination,
endurance, strength and teamwork. If all of those things aren't combined, and are
not excelled at, then you will not be a very good soccer player. However, if you
work hard and you take your soccer fitness training seriously, you can become a very
good soccer player which is not as easy as it seems.
Coordination
Soccer fitness training takes a lot of coordination. When you watch soccer
players on the field, you'll notice that they have to dribble the ball back and
forth between their feet so that the other players of the opposing team don't steal
it. They complete this dribble while also running down the field. That takes major
coordination. You need to be able to switch feet at will and you need to be able to
take a shot whenever one presents itself. If you're not prepared, and you haven't
worked on the coordination aspect of your soccer fitness training, you may miss
shots and you may get the ball stolen easily from opposing players.
Endurance
If there's one thing soccer fitness training must focus on, it's endurance. Just
watching a soccer game should make you feel tired. All the players do is run here
and run there. If they don't have good endurance, they'll fall out by the time they
reach one end of the field. Lots of running must be included in soccer fitness
training if a soccer player hopes to make it with the big boys. If you can't run
from one end of the field to the other without falling out, you need to work a
little harder on the endurance part of your soccer fitness training.
Strength
You may think that it just takes leg strength in order to make it as a good
soccer player but that's just not true. You also need core strength, arm strength
and your entire body needs to be conditioned in order to move with agility.
Teamwork
In soccer, there is no one person who carries the whole team. The team must work
together if they hope to score enough goals to win the game. Therefore, teamwork
must be included in soccer fitness training or else the entire team won't know how
to work together to become the best team they can be.
