Female Bodybuilding Sites

Female bodybuilding as a sport had a rough start, and it still has a long way to go. The merger of such levels of masculinity with femininity is frowned upon in many societies; to try and appease this dissonance, many female bodybuilding sites hosted competitions that were more or less grotesque distortions of beauty pageants.

Women were required to wear high heels on stage while flexing and lifting. These practices did not promote female athleticism at all, and instead reiterated the place of women in society as visual objects. Luckily, many female bodybuilding sites, and even entire countries, have taken a stand against objectification, and have returned the true competition and athleticism to female bodybuilding by hosting championships with the same standards as male bodybuilding events.

Even with the recent attempts by female bodybuilding sites to promote a professional image, female bodybuilding remains a taboo. One of the most popular female bodybuilding sites for many amateurs and experts alike is the local gym; here they design their routines, train their bodies and outline their goals. However, female bodybuilders will often feel ostracized; any woman alone in the free weight room, surrounded by men, will feel out of place, more like an experiment or a freak than an athlete. Most females in the gym never leave the treadmills, more concerned about shedding pounds than gaining muscles; consequently, when women do sit down to bench press, they forfeit a large part of their femininity, at least in the eyes of the other exercisers.

Some female bodybuilding sites offer trainers who serve as both guides and support during workouts. These women, or even men, can make a female bodybuilder feel more comfortable with both her routine and her femininity; she will not be judged, and therefore, she will not begin to question herself. Other female bodybuilding sites are not gyms at all, but facilities designed specifically for bodybuilding and lifting. Here, everything from the equipment and trainers to the magazines and snack bars are installed with bodybuilders in mind. Female bodybuilders, surrounded by their fellow women and male counterparts, feel like members of a community instead of social outcasts.

There are many female bodybuilding sites that still host competitions, although the popularity of these championships has dwindled in recent years. While there was a spike in the media presentation of female bodybuilding, that obsession died with the high heels. Men and women outside of the sport believe in a distorted image of the female bodybuilder: a masculine, monstrous lesbian. Society is not yet ready to believe in an average-faced, mother of two women who happens to be strong, cut, toned and able to lift more than her body weight. These two images remain separate, and to try and merge them into one, the true identity of the female bodybuilder, is too stressful, and too unfathomable, for most individuals.
